Skirted dining room chairs

I bought seven chairs off my neighbor after a yard sale we had on the street. I had eyed them the entire yard sale and stuck to my motto - "if it's not there when I go back for it, then it wasn't meant to be." I was lucky, it was meant to be.

The chairs were just the way I like them - not perfect. there a two styles of back and that doesn't bother me one bit, in fact I think it adds character.
I proceeded to paint them white.
I gave my good friend advice after several coats of white paint per chair, always prime. The later ones I primed were much easier to cover with the white paint.
After I painted the chairs white I sewed white slipcovers for the seats.
I love the long slipcovers that look like skirts.
I am still contemplating whether or not to distress them. By the time I decide, the family may have taken care of the distressing...
Have a wonderful (snowy and cold in our case) weekend!

a new year - a new start

Happy New Year all,

I was going to start this last Friday and then I couldn't locate the photos I wanted. So, without beating myself up, here is the beginning of posts on Fridays. I am going to start with the laundry/mudroom/office. The photo below is my current "desk".

Behind me are the washer and dryer and to my right the wall of jackets - neither of them photo ready. I did a study abroad my junior year in college in France and took some inspiration from the franco look - though I think our franco look is very American inspired.
However, I covered the lamshade in linen with a little ruffle,
along with this desk chair I had purchased from a neighbor when we first moved into our house and were in need of many things.

I added a little zip with the zebra striped pillow.

I found the folders at deep discount at an office supply store. Now when I look into my office/laundry/mudroom, I like the view.

It's a far cry from whence it came...

Have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend.
